Does my partner have to attend couples therapy?
Ideally both partners attend sessions together for the best outcomes. However, if your partner is hesitant, you can begin with individual sessions focused on relationship skills. Your therapist can guide you on how to encourage your partner to join when they are ready.
How many sessions of couples counselling will we need?
Every couple is different. Some couples see meaningful improvement in 6 to 8 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. Your therapist will work with you to set clear goals and review progress regularly so you always know where you stand.
What if only one of us wants therapy?
It is very common for one partner to be more open to therapy than the other. You can absolutely start individual sessions focused on the relationship, and your therapist can help you navigate bringing your partner into the process when they feel comfortable.
Is couples therapy confidential?
