For Parents

We know it can feel uncertain when your teen starts therapy. Here's how we work together to support them.

Parent Involvement When Appropriate

Parents may be included in parts of sessions when it benefits the teen. Your therapist will guide this process to ensure your teen feels supported without feeling monitored.

Confidentiality Within Safe Boundaries

What your teen shares stays between them and their therapist — unless there is a safety concern. This trust is essential for meaningful progress.

Practical Tools for Supporting Teens

You'll receive guidance on how to create a supportive environment at home. Small changes in communication and routine can make a significant difference.

How Sessions Work

Sessions are 50 minutes, conducted online via secure video. Your teen connects from a private, comfortable space. The therapist uses age-appropriate, evidence-based approaches.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age range is teen therapy for?
Our teen therapy is designed for young people aged 13 to 18. Our therapists are trained to work with adolescents and understand the unique challenges of this developmental stage.
Will I know what my teen discusses in therapy?
Confidentiality is essential to building trust with your teen. Your therapist will keep sessions private, but will inform you if there are any safety concerns. General progress updates can be shared with your teen's agreement.
How do I know if my teen needs therapy?
Signs may include persistent sadness or irritability, withdrawal from friends or activities, declining academic performance, changes in sleep or appetite, or expressions of hopelessness. If you're unsure, a consultation can help determine the right next step.
How many sessions will my teen need?
Every teen is different. Some see meaningful progress in 6–8 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will discuss a plan after the initial assessment and adjust as needed.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is about building rapport and understanding your teen's world. The therapist will ask about their experiences, interests, and what they'd like to work on — in a relaxed, non-judgemental setting. Parents may be included briefly at the start or end.
